Graduation for 12th Fail: Failing can’t stop us from achieving our dreams! Students who could not pass the class 12th can still pursue a graduation degree. There are various possibilities to do so. Candidates can retake the 12th exams or pursue diploma, certificates and distance learning courses. National Institute of Open schooling (NIOS), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE) are some of the institutes providing graduation courses to 12th fail students for their better future. 

Diploma courses like in Engineering (Polytechnic), Computer Applications, Animation and Multimedia, Interior Designing etc. Certificate courses like in Data Entry and Office Automation, Web Designing, Yoga and so on. The registrations for these courses are now open, aspirants can apply on official websites of the universities and institutes.

Diploma Courses for the 12th fail Students 

There are various Diploma courses for students who could not complete their 12th. Those who are interested in IT and computing can go for Diploma in Computer Application, Basic Computer Courses, Tally and Accounting Software, Graphic Designing courses after 12th, and Web Development etc.

Those who desire to pursue arts related courses can go after Fashion designing, Hotel Management, Photography, Interior Designing, Makeup Artistry, Tourism and travel management etc. Other options could be Diploma in e-commerce and online Selling, Retail Management, Animation and Multimedia, and many more. These courses are typically 6 months to 3 years long. The course fee for these courses is around 1 Lakh to 5 Lakh INR per year. Certificate courses for the 12th fail Students 

There are numerous certificate courses as well for the students who need to pursue these courses. Courses include certificate in digital marketing, web designing, beautician and makeup artistry, data entry and office automation, cooking and culinary arts and many more.  

These courses fee range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 25,000 INR per annum with certificates included. The duration may vary depending on courses, the average period of these courses is from 6 months to 2 years. IGNOU, Upgrad, Coursera, Udemy are some of the institutes and online platforms that offer these courses. 

IGNOU’s BPP program

Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) is a course offered by IGNOU. This is a substructure course planned for the aspirants who want to pursue Bachelor’s degree and have not completed class 12. To enable them to study and qualify for their desired career, IGNOU planned this preparatory course. Preparatory Course in Commerce, in General Mathematics, in Social Sciences are the courses in which one can graduate. The Bachelor Preparatory Programme helps students to go for Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) and other bachelor’s degrees after completing it. The mode of study for these courses is Teleconference, Audio-Video Programme and Distance Learning. BPP is a 6 months to 2 years long course which needs eligibility of minimum age 18 for the aspirants. 

  • Students who wish to apply in this course need to visit the online admission portal of IGNOU and register themself in it. 

  • Fill the application form thoroughly and Upload required documents.

Can 12th Fail students give re-examination?

Re-examination must be a topmost decision for 12th fail students. Yes, the Candidates who could not pass their class 12 by failing in 1 or 2 subjects from any recognised board like CBSE, ICSE, UP Board etc. can apply for re-exam or supplementary exams. They can prepare and appear in these exams to improve their grades. Additionally, those who could not clear these re-examinations can go for second and third chances (according to the CBSE board).

Students can apply for these exams in February, March, and April and the examination generally held in July to August. Those who want to appear for 2nd and 3rd chances can apply in the same months as mentioned above. By passing the examination, aspirants can apply for the undergraduate and other desired courses.

The Major stair for students is to inform your school and organization about your application for re-examination or compartment exam. Here are the following steps to apply for re- examination.

  2. Search for “Compartment exam”, or “Improvement exam” section.

  3. Fill the details in Application form thoroughly and upload the required documents.

  4. Pay the fees for the application form and submit the form.
